Man Charged in Hudson Murders Gets Jail Pass

Balfour moved to Chicago so he can meet with attorney

The man accused of killing three of actress Jennifer Hudson's relatives can be moved to a Chicago jail to make it easier for his attorney to meet with him.

That's the ruling from Cook County Judge Marjorie Laws, who granted the motion Tuesday from William Balfour's attorney, Joshua Kutnick.

Balfour is the estranged husband of Jennifer Hudson's sister, Julia Hudson. He's charged in the October deaths of the Hudson sisters' mother, Darnell Donerson, their brother, Jason Hudson, and Julia Hudson's 7-year-old son, Julian King.

Balfour has pleaded not guilty. He's been held in a state prison in Joliet on a parole violation.

Prosecutors allege Balfour shot the three in a jealous rage.

The judge set Feb. 23 as the next hearing in the case.
