Be Part of Victory Gardens' New Play Process

Not many people know that Victory Gardens Theater invites the public to be part of its new play process by hosting an open rehearsal a week before the first preview of each of its main stage productions.

The next open rehearsal for VG's first world premiere play of 2009, 'Living Green' is Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave.

It's not often that you get the opportunity to be a member of the first audience for an on-set, work-in-progress play.  'Living Green' is a family drama by Evanston playwright, teacher and Victory Gardens Playwrights Ensemble member Gloria Bond Clunie.  The 30 minute rehearsal is followed by a talkback about the characters, plots and themes of the play with the playwright, director and cast.  A reception follows in the Biograph lobby, courtesy of Zig Zag Café.

The open rehearsals are free, but reservations are recommended. E-mail events@victorygardens.org or call Will Rogers, 773-549-5788 ext. 2167 to RSVP.

Previews for the play begin Jan. 23. Press opening is Monday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m.  Regular performances of Living Green run through March 1. Single tickets are $20-$48. Four-play subscriptions including 'Living Green' start at $64.  For ticket and subscription information, call the Victory Gardens box office at 773-871-3000, or visit their official web site.
