Have you ever noticed that after a few cocktails, you can suddenly speak a foreign language better, walk a straight line better (oh wait – scratch walking a straight line -- we're confusing beverages here), or create an artistic masterpiece better? Who cares if it's all in your mind – liquid courage might not be such a bad thing when it comes to artistic expression. The Hyde Park Art Center affords you the opportunity to unleash your inner sculptor the second Friday of the month from 8 p.m. to midnight at their Cocktails & Clay (yep, that would include this Friday, Jan. 9) A teaching artist leads a 45-minute group session, and then it's all about socializing, sculpting and sipping. A $15 suggestion donation goes toward supplies, a DJ and a chance to admire the exhibitions on display. Bring your greenbacks for the cash bar – your masterpiece may depend on it.
