‘AOL Sports' Retires

For two and a half years, FanHouse has thrived as the voice of new media under the AOL Sports banner.

Today, the AOL Sports banner is officially retired. We're launching an all-new sports site, FanHouse.com, custom built for fans who care passionately about sports. As the name suggests, the site is about you the fan foremost in mind. We've still got everything you've come to expect from AOL Sports including up-to-the-minute news, scoreboards, stats and compelling original features. But you'll immediately notice a bold and innovative new look designed to bring more of our content to your fingertips. You'll also see we've been joined by some of the leading sports writers in the nation whose diverse insights and provocative commentary will be daily must-reads. We think you'll find no more distinctive and compelling voice anywhere in sports media.

We're glad to have you here. Whether you visit us once a day or five times a day, you'll always find something new and worth reading. Tell us what you think. The foundation of EPpy-award* winning FanHouse has always been a constant flow of news, analysis and commentary. That remains our core but in a much bigger and more comprehensive way.

We've added nationally acclaimed columnists Jay Mariotti (ESPN commentator and former Chicago Sun-Times columnist), Kevin Blackistone (ESPN commentator and former Dallas Morning News columnist) and Lisa Olson (former New York Daily News columnist) to provide provocative, insightful, diverse and thought-provoking perspective on the day's biggest stories.

Award-winning** blogger Michael David Smith now writes exclusively on FanHouse.

FanHouse has beefed up its full-time staff with a wave of up-and-coming writers including Ryan Wilson, Matt Watson, Shane Bacon, Andrew Johnson, Tom Herrera, Ray Holloman and Chris Burke. They'll be joined by a deep and talented roster of writers that have made us one of the most-read sports publications on the Internet. You can expect us to continue scouting for the best editorial talent in sports.

FanHouse will also be devoted to comprehensive NASCAR coverage in 2009 with lead motorsports writer Holly Cain, formerly of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Dallas Morning News.

World-class talent providing around-the-clock, personalized sports coverage.

Among the many other new features you'll find in FanHouse:

-- Bold design and enhanced navigation that's distinctive and makes everything easy to find.

-- Expanded scoreboards and stats. You won't find better information anywhere.

-- New commenting, user profiles and forums. You'll find comments on articles much easier to write and follow and coming soon you'll be able to join forums with other FanHouse readers to share your passion for sports.

-- Fleaflicker Fantasy Football Game. Quite simply the best Fantasy Football experience on the Internet. The FanHouse Fantasy site is nominated*** as Best Fantasy Blog, Best New Fantasy Site, and Best Fantasy Live Event (Sunday Tailgate).

-- The Web's best coverage of Mixed Martial Arts, including exclusive interviews and chats with the world's top fighters and industry leaders.

Our mission is to give you excellence in every corner of FanHouse (and every corner of sports).

Tell us what you think. Tell us what you want.

It's not enough to say we're all about you the fan, we're putting our name on it.
