Like with most things these days, the cost of parking your car is getting more expensive.
A newly released survey finds the average price of parking in the Loop to be about $30, 20% more than it was in 2005.
The good news is that if you're willing to walk a ways, you can save some money.
A Chicago Sun-Times survey of a broader downtown area found the average cost to park for 12 hours is $23.50, and the median rate -- half of the lots and garages charge less, half charge more -- is $24.
Anyway you slice it, however, getting to work -- if you still have a job -- is going to cost you more in 2009.
