The Buzz: Vivek Bavda, the son of immigrants from India, was born in Columbus, Ohio. His family moved to the district in 1982. Later, Bavda graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from Northwestern University. He is currently an attorney, maintaining a general private law practice, and holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from the John Marshall Law School. Though he plans to mainly focus on job creation, if elected, he is also committed to ensuring children the right to an excellent education. Bavda is a self-proclaimed Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls fan.
