22K Students at Poor Schools to Get Vouchers

The Illinois Senate today approved legislation creating a small-scale voucher program that'll give 22k students at the really bad CPS schools money so they can go to nice, ivy-walled private joints.

So instead of improving public schools, we're just going to financially "bus" kids to private schools.

This would be a Portent of Doom, but at least the kids are getting a, y'know, edumacation and stuff, so we're going with Glimmer of Hope.

Best quote, from Clout Street: "Maybe the problem starts at home," said Sen. Mike Jacobs, D-East Moline. "Are there vouchers so that we can replace the parents who aren't doing a good job?"
