The Chicago Blackhawks have traded defenseman Brandon Manning to the Edmonton Oilers, the team announced Sunday afternoon.

Manning, along with defensive prospect Robin Norell, are heading to the Oilers in exchange for forward Drake Caggiula and defenseman Jason Garrison.

After signing a two-year deal with the Blackhawks over the offseason, Manning struggled to stay in the lineup, scoring one goal and dishing out two assists in 27 games.

Meanwhile, Garrison’s contract will expire at the end of this season, and the veteran is looking to prove he still has something left in the tank. He has one goal in 17 games this season, and has played with the Golden Knights, Lightning, Panthers, and Canucks in his NHL career.

The big wild card in the trade is Caggiula, who will hope to benefit from a chance of scenery. The 24-year-old scored seven goals and dished out four assists in 29 games with the Oilers this season.
