Attempted Murder Charges Follow Police Shooting

Chicago police say two man are facing attempted murder charges after a confrontation with officers in the Gage Park neighborhood on the city's southwest side.

One of the man, 22-year-old Joshua Wheaton of suburban Evergreen Park, was reportedly shot and slightly wounded by officers early
Sunday morning after he was seen firing a weapon himself.

Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli says Wheaton was charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a police
officer while carrying a firearm and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

The other man, 21-year-old Adam Hurtado of Chicago, was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

The two were scheduled for appearance in Bond Court Monday.
