Go to There: CCC's Human Asset Strategy Workshop

HR is such a fascinating topic because it governs everything about your company's culture. How it works. What the ramifications are for ignoring the rules. How big of a heart your company has, and how comfortable it is with showing it. But it's also unlikely that everyone who works in HR is an expert in it -- which is unfortunate because, according to the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce "government regulators are now cracking down on small and medium sized businesses on HR issues not fully understood by many business owners."

That's probably why the CCC is offering a workshop on Aug. 21 on what it deems are the "HR issues that can literally make or break your business." Sounds scary, but also important. Anyway, Jim Austgen of SCORE Chicago -- formerly of Motorola -- will be leading a $5/$15 (depending on whether you're a member) will be leading an hour, 15-minute workshop on this topic. Sounds pretty worthwhile, so take a look and mull it over
