Jeffery, who has 43 catches for 619 yards and seven touchdowns this season, agreed to a new four-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, according to multiple reports. The receiver, who had been drafted by the Bears and spent his first five seasons in the Windy City, will be paid a guaranteed $27 million with the contract.
Five of Jeffery’s seven touchdowns this season have come in the last four weeks, including a five-catch performance against the Bears last weekend. Jeffery racked up 52 yards and a touchdown as the Eagles cruised to an easy 31-3 victory over his former team.
Meanwhile, Bears receivers have struggled to stay on the field all season long, and aside from some solid performances from Dontrelle Inman, they haven’t been able to give Mitchell Trubisky much to work with in the passing game.
During his time in Chicago, Jeffery and the Bears had engaged in contract extension talks, but never came close on a long-term deal, with the receiver wanting more money than the team wanted to put forward.
