The Chicago Bears are going into a tough showdown with the Minnesota Vikings this weekend at Soldier Field, and the team is dealing with some significant injury concerns heading into that contest.

On Thursday, the Bears had a total of five players miss practice due to injuries and another, safety Eddie Jackson, was limited with a shoulder injury.

Wide receiver Taylor Gabriel, who caught three touchdowns in the first half of Monday’s win over the San Francisco 49’ers, remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol and missed Thursday’s workout at Halas Hall.

Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, who was removed from Monday’s game after suffering a knee injury, also missed practice for the second consecutive day, as did kicker Eddy Piñeiro, who is battling through a knee injury of his own.

Defensive tackle Bilal Nichols is still out of practice with a broken hand, and offensive lineman Kyle Long was a surprise scratch from practice Thursday with a hip issue.

Running back Mike Davis also missed the workout for personal reasons for the second straight day.

The lone bit of good news on the injury front is that wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, who was limited Wednesday with a triceps problem, was a full participant Thursday, as was Roby Robertson-Harris, who is dealing with a glute issue.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy said that he believes Hicks will be a game time decision with his injury, but it’s unclear what the status is on the other players listed on the injury report.
