Illinois State Police issued a traffic alert Sunday after several counties were experiencing hazardous road conditions.

Will, Grundy and Kendall Counties were experiencing blowing and drifting snow causing hazardous road conditions and areas of "zero visibility," the alert said.

Major areas of concern included Interstate 57 in Will County and Interstate 55 south of Interstate 80.

Additional areas of concern were Illinois Routes 47 and 17 and all secondary roadways bordered by open areas where blowing and drifting snow is normally a problem.

"Travel is not advised in these areas," police said.

Drivers should call 911 or *999 to report an emergency or request assistance.
