Commuters, you can put your cash and check book away. Metra is about to join the rest of the advanced world and allow you to pay for your train tickets with plastic.

Beginning next February, credit cards will be accepted at all stations with a ticket agent as well as online, according to Metra executive director Phil Pagano.

Thanks for convenience should go to state Sen. Michael Bond of Grayslake.

"It's amazing how the system seems to operate like it's the 1930s," Bond told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Metra has been the only one out of the top 10 commuter rail system in the country's to not acept credit cards.
