Jose Baeza-Garcia, of the 2400 block of West Berwyn Avenue, died Saturday morning after falling on tracks at Wellington

A 21-year-old man who was struck and killed by a Chicago Transit Authority train as it pulled into a Lakeview neighborhood Brown Line station early Saturday was drunk when he fell onto the tracks, an autopsy has found.

Jose Baeza-Garcia, of the 2400 block of West Berwyn Avenue, died after being struck by a train at the CTA's Wellington station, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

He apparently fell on the tracks as the train pulled into the station, at about 1:40 a.m., officials said. Baeza-Garcia was dead at the scene and Red and Brown line trains were temporarily halted.

Bus shuttles transported commuters while the train service was disrupted.

Baeza-Garcia's death was ruled an accident.
