Staying ahead of the fashion trends is easy, but doing it on a budget can be a challenge.

But Lilliana Vasquez, author of the blog CheapChicas.com, believes it's easier than you think. Vasquez scours stores like Marshall's and TJ Maxx to score great deals, like 50 percent off a Michael Kors handbag that retails for more than $500.

Vasquez says oversized handbags are hot this season, but is also into the edge that stud detailing adds to your ensemble -- on handbags, shoes and belts.

Ethnic-inspired looks are also hot this season, according to the Cheap Chica.

"You're looking for natural elements ... beautiful soft colors like purples and yellows, things that remind you of Bali," Vasquez says.

Scarves are also hot this year, particularly the embellished lightweight kind, and instead of a run-of-the-mill umbrella, stay dry with a fun, printed number, she suggests.
