The new Wilco documentary is a highlight of CIMMfest.

We love movies. We love music. We love movies about music.

Chicago has a pulsing music scene and is home to several incredible film festivals, so it's only fitting that we would eventually be home to the inaugural Chicago International Music and Movies (CIMM) festival, taking place March 4-9.

The fest, which showcases films with music at their center, will play out in several venues around town: the Chicago Cultural Center downtown, the new St. Paul Cultural Center in Wicker Park, Th!nkArt Salon, Schubas and Double Door, to name a few.

See films from France, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Brazil, India, Canada and Israel, as well as the United States.

There are even a handful of films and shorts from hometown filmmakers, outlined in the comment section of this Chicagoist post

One major highlight of the festival is the Wilco tour documentary ‘Ashes of American Flags'  showing Monday, March 9 at the Music Box Theater (3733 N. Southport), 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., $10. Throughout the festival, there will also be musical performancespanel discussions, a pre-opening night party and more. Get weekend passes and individual tickets online at brownpapertickets.com.
