Mayfest Before the Mayfest

Chicago Brauhaus

Mayfest ist wunderbar.

Lincoln Square celebrates Mayfest for the 10th year with a four-day outdoor street party of live music, dancing, and of course, beer, starting Thursday, May 28, lasting through Sunday, May 31.

One way to get the festivities started early to prepare yourself for all of the raucous fun the Germans know how to have is to get your beer, sausage and dancing on now  at the Chicago Brauhaus. The Lincoln Square institution is celebrating Mayfest every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday now through May 24.  After 7 p.m. on these nights, enjoy live music from ''The Fellows'' while you down the Spaten Maibock on draft, nibble a giant pretzel and order traditional German faves like sauerbraten, wiener schnitzel, wurst of all shapes and sizes and sauerkraut. Naturlich. On Sundays, the fun starts at 5 p.m., so bring the kids.  Reservations are highly recommended.
