Creating the perfect Italian beef is an art. The roast beef must be sliced just right, and the ratio of moist drippings to the bread has to be perfect. It's a craft Al's Beef has been working on since 1938, when it first opened as a curbside, neighborhood food stand. The location has moved down the street, but the attention to detail remains. Esquire recently picked it one of the "Best Sandwiches in America." It looks like the rest of the world is finding out what Chicago already knows -- Al's got the beef.
