benTEST Computer Love: Heat “100 Percent” Chance

If a computer says it, it must be true, right?

The old saying is there are only two certain things in life: death and taxes.

You might want to add the Miami Heat making the playoffs to the list.

The good people at Accuscore.com, have announced that after running 10,000 computer simulations, there is a "100 percent chance" the Heat make the NBA post season.

A sure thing. A certainty. An absolute truth.

If you had a farm, you should run out and bet it, Accuscore thinks.

Even though basketball games are won and lost on the court, computers pretty much run sports and the world these days (ask college football) so we take their conclusions seriously.

Another website has the Heat knocking off the two-time defending champion L.A. Lakers in six games after 1,001 simulations of a best-of-seven series. The Heat won 81 percent of the time.

Now that's some computer love even Zapp & Roger couldn't comprehend.

The CPUs also think the new-look Heat, who open play against the Boston Celtics tonight, have a pretty good chance at breaking the single-season wins record of 72-10, set by Michael Jordan's 1996 Chicago Bulls.

Nearly 20 percent of the computers think the Heat will eclipse the 70 game win total, and 11.3 percent conclude the team led by Dwyane Wade, LeBron james and Chris Bosh will surpass 72 wins.

How? By having a 58-game winning streak one computer determined.

It's not all good news for the Heat. One computer out of the 10,000 is a hater and found a scenario where the team finished .500, but still made the playoffs.

That computer was immediately destroyed by Bernie and Banana Man.
