Maine West's Athletic Director Resigns

District official says resignation has nothing to do with hazing scandal

Maine West High School's Athletic Director will step down from the post at the end of the year but district officials say Christopher Aaddante's resignation has nothing to do with an ongoing hazing scandal.

"This is a case of him having kids who are involved in athletics themselves," Maine Township District 207 spokesman Dave Beery told the Daily Herald on Thursday. "The demands of the athletic director's job (are) such, he is not having an opportunity to watch or support them the way he would like."

Aaddante, hired in 1994 as a business education teacher, according to his online biography, will continue in that capacity in the next school next year.

The District 207 School Board earlier this year fired soccer coaches Michael Divincenzo and Emilio Rodriguez after allegations they turned a blind eye to the hazing. Both men have appealed their dismissal with the Illinois State Board of Education.
