The scuffling Chicago Cubs are hoping to get a bit of a jolt in their bullpen on Sunday as they called up pitcher Tony Barnette from Triple-A Iowa. 

Barnette, whom the Cubs signed in February, had been placed on the 60-day injured list earlier in the year with right shoulder tightness, but is now healthy and back on the team's active roster. 

Barnette appeared in 13 games at the Triple-A level, posting a 2.31 ERA and striking out 12 batters in 11.2 innings of work. He has a career 3.50 ERA in the big leagues, appearing in a total of 125 games with the Texas Rangers. 

According to a note sent out by the team, Barnette could become the first Alaskan-born player to make an appearance in a game as a member of the club.

In a corresponding roster move, the Cubs optioned pitcher Rowan Wick to Triple-A Iowa. In three appearances, Wick gave up one earned run in 3.2 innings of work, striking out six batters and walking two. 

The Cubs will finish up a four-game series against the Mets on Sunday afternoon, putting Cole Hamels on the mound against Mets ace Jacob deGrom.
