Midday Stampede: Team USA Players Feel Bad About Rose's Absence

Several members of the 2012 U.S. Men's Olympic team speak on Rose's missed opportunity

Olympic basketball pool play begins Sunday and Team USA will begin their quest to defend their gold medal earned during the 2008 games in Beijing.

Several members of the ‘Redeem Team’ are missing this summer due to injury, and one player not on the ’08 team but who was expected to make an impact for Team USA this year is sorely missed: Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose.

After tearing his ACL in the playoffs, Rose’s Olympic chances were dashed, but according to a Chicago Tribune report, some of Derrick’s would-be teammates feel bad that he had to miss out on such a terrific basketball opportunity.

"I definitely know he’s mad he can’t be here," Westbrook said. "But he’s going to get healthy and be ready next year for the Bulls. That’s important."
