#IWishMyTeacherKnew: Students Pen Heartbreaking Messages for Assignment

A third-grade teacher's effort to connect with her students returned touching and revealing results. 

Kyle Schwartz, who teaches at Denver's Doull Elementary, tasked her students to write an anonymous note starting with the phrase "I Wish My Teacher Knew," NBC affiliate KUSA reported. At the end of the class activity, Schwartz wound up learning more than she expected. She was touched by the raw feelings the students, many of whom are from low-income families, expressed.

Schwartz, who called the assignment a "reality check,"  has been tweeting about her lesson plan with the hashtag #IWishMyTeacherKnew. Now, some of the heartbreaking confessions are going viral.
