Victim Identified in Fatal South Bend Bar Shooting

Authorities identified the victim as a 27-year-old man

South Bend police have confirmed that one person died and 10 others were hurt in a shooting outside of a bar early Sunday morning.

Police say that the incident occurred at Kelly’s Pub, located in the 1100 block of Mishawaka Avenue, just after 2 a.m. Sunday monring. Officers were called to the scene and located 27-year-old Brandon Williams, who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.

Williams was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A full autopsy I sscheduled for Monday morning.

Police say that a total of 10 other victims were shot at the scene, and were treated at area hospitals. Five of the victims were treated and released, while five others remain at area hospitals. All are in stable condition, but further details on the extent of their injuries are unavailable at this time.

Eyewitnesses told police the parking lots outside of the bar were congested with cars and a crowd of approximately 75 to 100 people on Sunday morning when the shooting took place. Police have interviewed several witnesses and are currently working to collect video evidence from the scene, and stressed that the investigation is ongoing.

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting.
