Barricade Situation Prompts Lockport School Lockdown

Police responded to a home on the 100 block of Jefferson Street early Thursday morning.

All schools in the southwestern Chicago suburb of Lockport were put on lockdown Thursday morning after a reported barricade situation.

The schools included Kelvin Grove Middle and Milne Grove Elementary schools in District 91 and Oak Prairie Junior High, Ludwig, Reed and Walsh schools in District 92.

Police responded to a home on the 100 block of Jefferson Street earlier in the morning and a man inside refused to come out, The Herald News reported.

From a news helicopter, authorities were seen entering the home and taking a man into custody.
