Lake Villa Man Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Roommate

A Lake Villa man has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing his roommate following an argument at their home.

The incident occurred on July 13 at 8:40 p.m. when police responded to a call in the 36600 block of North James Drive in Lake Villa. When they arrived at the residence, they found a 38-year-old man who had been stabbed several times in the head, neck, face, and arms.

The victim was brought to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.

After investigating the stabbing, police obtained an arrest warrant for Marksberry that accused him of attempted first-degree murder. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshals Service then began searching for Marksberry, who allegedly eluded capture for a week by staying at different friends’ houses, according to a press release.

Marksberry was spotted driving a landscaping vehicle on July 21, and after he stopped at a residence, he was taken into custody, according to police.

Marksberry’s bond has been set at $3 million, and his next court date will take place on Aug. 8.
