Person Questioned in Fatal Hit-and-Run of Cyclist

Shuttershock

A Chicago Police Department spokesperson said a "person of interest" was being questioned Friday morning in connection with the fatal hit-and-run of a bicyclist.

The 59-year-old victim was riding her bike in the 2900 block of South Poplar Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday when a vehicle struck her, police said. The driver did not stop and kept going east.

The woman was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 6 p.m. according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

She was later identified as Suai Xie of the 400 block of West 28th Place.

As of 5 p.m. Friday, no charges had been filed.
