Wheaton College Student Charged For Secretly Filming Female Student in Shower

A Wheaton College student has been charged for allegedly secretly videotaping a female student for nearly five months as she showered in her campus apartment, according to police.

Alexander Lim, 24, of Wheaton was secretly recording the woman since Oct. 2014 with a camera disguised as a watch that he placed in her apartment’s bathroom, prosecutors say.

The woman did not notice the recording device until Feb. 22 of 2015 when she was taking as shower and saw a watch that looked as if it had a video lens on the face of it pointing towards her, according to police.

She then immediately contacted campus police who notified the Wheaton Police Department.

Further investigation found the watch was actually a “spyview camera watch” placed inside of her campus-owned residence by Lim, police said.

Lim was taken into custody Monday and charged with one count of Felony Unauthorized Video Recording, which is a Class 4 Felony punishable to up to three years in prison.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 23, 2015. His bond is set at $75,000.
