Surprising Valentine's Day Hot Spots in Chicago

Among the unexpected standouts on the list is one of the most iconic dive watering holes in Chicago, the Billy Goat Tavern

Chicago romantics are apparently into “cheezborgers” and pizzas.

Facebook released a list Friday, ranking the most popular Valentine’s Day restaurants in Chicago, based on check-ins over the past few years, and the list featured some unconventional dinner-for-two selections.

The top 10 restaurants were:

1. Siena Tavern
2. Brazzaz Official Site
3. Carnivale
4. Grand Lux Cafe
5. Billy Goat Inns
6, Cafe Babareeba
7. Weber Grill Restaurant
8. Connie's Pizza
9. Ginos East of Chicago
10. Las Tablas Restaurant

Among the unexpected standouts on the list is one of the most iconic dive watering holes in Chicago, the Billy Goat Tavern.

The local staple, most known from the popular “Saturday Night Live” sketch, features “cheeps” and “cheezborgers.” Though the menu may be a headscratcher for those looking to take their dates on a romantic evening out, it appears Chicagoans are into the classics, romantic or not.

And continuing with Chicago staples, the city’s love-affair with pizza is also a feature for the day of amore.

With Gino’s East and Connie’s inching their way onto the top 10 list, it’s clear Chicagoans want to share their cheesy favorites with their valentines.

But not all Chicagoans drop the romance for a city classic as some of the fancier eateries like Siena Tavern, Brazzaz and Carnivale top the list of love locations.
