A school bus and box truck collided Wednesday morning in Lake County, state police said.

Several children suffered minor injuries Wednesday morning when a school bus and box truck collided on Interstate 94 north of Chicago.

The collision occurred around 10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-94 near Deerfield Road in Lake County, Illinois State Police Sgt. Tim Moore said.

The bus appeared full and several children were transported to area hospitals, but Moore said their injuries were non-life threatening.

The three right lanes of the expressway were blocked while the scene was investigated. The three left lanes were open.

It wasn't clear by the afternoon hours as to what led to the crash.
