What a difference a few days makes.
Last week R. Kelly was dumped from the lineup of a Columbus, Ohio music festival following complaints about his presence on the bill. Sunday night he was on a Lollapalooza headlining stage.
The "Pied Piper of R&B" can thank fellow Chicagoan Chance the Rapper for the Lollapalooza cameo.
In a move it's safe to say nobody saw coming, Kelly sauntered out on stage about halfway through Chance's set and sang portions of "The World's Greatest," "Bump and Grind" and Ignition (Remix).
And Kelly, who still faces backlash over child pornography charges that he was eventually acquitted of, clearly reveled in the spotlight and the love he received from the Chicago fans.
The South Side native's energetic set could be described as a love letter to Chicago, with another cameo by up-and-coming Chicago rapper Vic Mensa, formerly of "Kids These Days," and numerous shout outs to his crew and parents.
Apparently, you can come home again.

Tonight isn't performing for performance's sake. It's a Chicago thing. I love music and touring. But tonight it's for Chicago
