A 24-year-old pregnant woman was killed in a car crash late Friday night in Stickney, police said.

Brittany Switak, of the 6500 block of West 60th Place, was killed in a single car crash near 50th Street and Central Avenue nearly one month before she was scheduled to give birth.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated and police are searching through security tape from the nearby gas station and talking to witnesses, officials said.

Swatik's car slid into a mailbox before it spun around and hit a metal pole, police said.

Swatik was traveling at a high rate of speed when the accident occured, according to witnesses.

The crashed car revealed severe damage to the driver’s side and her mother, Deborah Switak, said the injuries Switak sustained were “unreal." Deborah Switak said she suspected foul play was involved in the accident.

Switak was due to give birth May 3.
