Police are warning residents after an armed man robbed a bank in Gurnee Thursday afternoon.

Police said the robbery took place near U.S. Route 41 and Delany Road and were warning residents to avoid the area as a manhunt continued for the armed man.

The suspect was described as a tall African American male in his 30s. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a white bandana, according to an alert from Gurnee Police.

The man was last seen northbound from the scene on foot. A weapon was implied, but not displayed in the robbery, police said.

Anyone who sees a person matching their description is asked to call 911 and report their observations, the alert said.
