Nun Escapes Train Crash

Her order declined to comment

Holy cow, sister: that was a close call.

A nun narrowly escaped yesterday afternoon when an Amtrak train plowed into the car she was driving in Lemont, Illinois.

The Texas Eagle No. 22 train from Chicago crashed into the sister’s car, which was on the tracks, at about 1 p.m., Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari told the Sun-Times. The crash delayed the train to San Antonio about three hours, but no one was hurt.

Sisters of St. Francis from Christ the King would only say that the nun was fine and declined further comment.

Police aren’t sure how the car got stuck on the tracks, but it doesn’t take a leap of faith to figure out how the nun managed to get out in time.
