Family and friends will bid farewell Tuesday and Wednesday to a Wheaton soldier killed from injuries suffered in Afghanistan.

Visitation for Spc. Samuel T. Watts, 20, will be held from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, 410 N. Cross St., in Wheaton.

Watts was wounded by an improvised explosive device April 25, in Zharay, Afghanistan, according to a Department of Defense release. He died May 19 in Bethesda, Md., the Department of Defense said.

Watts was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based in Fort Bragg, N.C.

It was his first deployment to Afghanistan.
