Mayor, Michelle Obama Hosting Food Summit

Summit to adress food deserts in low-income areas

First Lady Michelle Obama is coming back to Chicago to help bring attention to the issue of food deserts in poorer communities.

Obama will host a food summit with Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Oct. 25th at City Hall, according to according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Mayors from 10 cities and grocery store CEOs and pharmacies will participate in the event.

The food desert issue aligns with Mrs. Obama's national health campaign intended to battle childhood obesity.

Emanuel's project supports funding for retail projects in low-income neighborhoods.
