Man Vandalized Lombard Synagogue: Police

A 40-year-old Westmont man was taken into custody and charges are pending

A man is in custody for allegedly vandalizing a synagogue Tuesday night in west suburban Lombard.

The incident happened at Congregation Etz Chaim at 1710 S. Highland Ave. about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a statement from the Village of Lombard.

Someone called 911 after a vandal broke several large glass windows in the synagogue, and wrote graffiti on the exterior of the building, according to the statement.

The suspect then began doing donuts with his vehicle in the parking lot of the synagogue before driving onto the grass and crashing into bushes, according to the statement.

A 40-year-old Westmont man was taken into custody and charges are pending, according to police.
