Free Cake for Chicago's Birthday

Friday marks the city's 174th birthday

Happy 174th Birthday, Chicago!

The Windy City was incorporated on March 4, 1837.

The Chicago History Museum is hosting a party for the city Friday, complete with cake from Bleeding Heart Bakery and special guests from the American Indian Center of Chicago.

The museum has invited city officials and guests who share Chicago's birthday, March 4. The event is free from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the museum at 1601 N. Clark St.

If you can't make it to the party, you can still eat cake. Cupcake truck Flirty Cupcakes and Spark Energy are offering free cupcakes at four downtown locations in honor of Chicago's birthday.

At 11 a.m., the Flirty Cupcake truck will stop at the Aon Center at Stetson Avenue and Lake Street. It will move to State and Lake Streets at 12:30 p.m., then LaSalle Street and Washington Avenue at 2 p.m. and Merchandise Mart at Kinzie and Wells Streets at 3:30 p.m.
