Plenty of Chicago White Sox fans are rooting for the Cubs to end their World Series drought this season, but not all of them are feeling friendly toward their North Side rivals, and Charlotte Hornets forward Frank Kaminsky is certainly part of that latter group.
Kaminsky, who grew up in Lisle and has been a White Sox fan his entire life, showed his distaste for the Cubs before his team’s game against the Bulls on Monday night at the United Center. The big man donned a Cubs jersey, but the last name he chose for it will certainly make fans’ blood boil:
You’re not seeing things. Kaminsky had a jersey personalized with the last name of Steve Bartman, the infamous Cubs fan that tried to catch a foul ball during Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS and became a scapegoat throughout the city for doing so.
When asked why he decided to go with the Bartman name for his jersey, Kaminsky summed it up very succinctly.
“It’s my stance on how I feel about the Cubs this year,” he told CSN Chicago’s Chuck Garfien.
Well, needless to say, we don’t think many Cubs fans are going to be thrilled with the choice, and the Hornets (coincidentally owned by former White Sox farmhand Michael Jordan) probably won’t have many fans in Chicago this year.
