A Bolingbrook couple faces felony charges after authorities say they starved their infant to death in northwest suburban Barrington.
Markisha Jones, 19, and Gene Edwards, 22, were charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony child endangerment in connection with the death of their daughter, Mya G. Edwards.
The initial autopsy was inconclusive, but Friday, The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office determined the baby's Jan. 8 death was a homicide due to malnutrition from starvation.
The child was almost 8 months old at the time of death.
Both suspects will appear in bond court Saturday.
