Prof Traded Dynamite for Meth, Ex Says

Erin Antonietti makes explosive accusations against former flame.

Marcello DelCarlo an assistant professor at Rush University Medical Center was arrested and charged Monday for possession of explosives on top of a domestic battery charge for shaking his ex-girlfriend violently.

He said he was making the explosives in order to use them for the Fourth of July, but now his ex-girl friend, Erin Antonietti, an Assistant State’s Attorney, says he was making the explosives to trade for methamphetamines, according to the Sun-Times.

Circuit court Judge James Brown set bail for DelCarlo at $225,000.  DelCarlo is currently on probation for a January conviction for possession of ammunition without a valid permit, and possession of an unregistered handgun.
