Car Crashes Through Window of North Riverside Store

Two people were injured Sunday afternoon when a car crash sent a vehicle barreling through the front window of a Michaels arts and crafts store in west suburban North Riverside, police said.

Shortly before 3 p.m., a blue Ford Explorer crashed into two cars and then into the Michaels storefront, located in the 7200 block of West 24th Street, police said. North Riverside Police Sgt. Chris Boenzi said the 36-year-old driver may have stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes.

Two people inside a parked vehicle that was hit in the crash were taken to Loyola University Medical Center with minor injuries. No one inside the store was injured, officials said.

Police said the driver was not intoxicated, but will be given a citation.
