Burned Body Is Not Missing Naperville Man

Search continues outside LA for missing college student Bryce Laspisa

The mystery deepens around the disappearance of a Naperville college student who's been missing since Labor Day weekend in suburban Los Angeles.

Officials have determined that a badly-burned body found near Lake Castaic last week is not 19-year-old Bryce Laspisa.

The body was identified as another man who was killed elsewhere and allegedly dumped there by three individuals police say have confessed to the crime.

Laspisa was driving from his college near Sacramento to his family's new home near LA when something went wrong. His overturned SUV was found near Lake Casaic with his cell phone, wallet and laptop still inside.

LA County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker says there's no interruption in the effort to find Lapisa.

"I can tell you the search hasn't stopped," Parker said. "We have expened a massive amount of resources."

Divers searched the lake again Wednesday searching for clues, along with canine dogs and helicopters.

Reports of a person seeing a dazed man resembling Lapisa at a fast food restaurant in the area have not been confirmed.

After the burned body was found, some members of Lapisa's family believed it was him, but now they're undeterred, organizing another search for Thursday.
