Chicago Eatery Sees Boost in Business After Sandwich Named ‘Best in the World'

A South Side pizza parlor has grown in popularity, not because of the pizza, but because of its breaded steak sandwich.

A writer for USA Today wrote an article in March that declared Ricobene’s breaded steak sandwich the best sandwich in the world.

Since that article was released, Eddy Zamora, Ricobene's Chef Manager, told NBC 5 Chicago business has been “non-stop.”

The article’s writer, Ted Berg, wrote “the sandwich presents a combination of flavors and textures that bests every single one of the thousands of other sandwiches I’ve sampled in my 34 years.”

Berg backed up his distinction by citing his previous experience. He wrote that he worked in a deli for three years and previously wrote sandwich reviews.

Along with the breaded steak, the sandwich includes cheese and a “sweet tomato sauce that complements it perfectly,” wrote Berg.

Those interested in heading to the Bridgeport neighborhood to try the sandwich should avoid the weekends. Ricobene’s busiest days are Thursdays through Sundays, according to Zamora.
