Amber Alert Canceled After Girl, 5, Found Safe

A 5-year-old girl was found safe early Monday morning after she was abducted from a home hours earlier in south suburban University Park.

Samiah Lomax was abducted by two people from a home in University Park at 11:03 p.m. Sunday, according to Illinois State Police.

Her abduction prompted an Amber Alert. Police issued an update at 4:40 a.m. announcing the child had been found safe and the alert was canceled.

The girl's mother was taken into custody and police were searching for a second woman Monday morning.

Officials had earlier identified the suspected abductors as 24-year-old Serena A. Johnson and 25-year-old Andre D. Johnson. Serena Johnson was described as a black woman who stands 5 feet tall and weighs 130 pounds. She was said to be wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and black leather boots.

Andre Johnson was described as standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds with black hair in braids and brown eyes.
