Suicide bomb attack in Kabul

Federal officials say five members of the Illinois National Guard were injured in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The five guardsmen were members of the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. One was seriously injured.

Four of the five guardsmen were taken to Bagram Air Field for treatment. The fifth was flown to Germany for treatment.

Their names were not released.

The attack took place early Saturday on a heavily guarded road between the German Embassy and a U.S. military base where soldiers train Afghan police and army members.

The Illinois National Guard recently sent 3,000 soldiers to Afghanistan.
