Gang Members Get 100 Years for Killing 9-Year-Old Girl

Third-grader killed while washing dog in from of Englewood home

Two reputed Gangster Disciples gang members were each sentenced to 100 years in prison Wednesday for a drive-by shooting that took the life of a 9-year-old girl in June 2009.

Ronald Henderson, 34, and Kevin Stanley, 31, were convicted of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder for killing Chastity Turner as she washed her dog in front of her Englewood home.

Three other adults were wounded in the shooting, included the third grader's father who was believed to have been the target.

Prosecutors say the men, along with 22-year-old Davionne Whitefield who is still awaiting trial, drove a stolen van down the 7400 block of South Stewart Street and fired weapons at the group.

Chastity was shot in the back in the shooting.
