OMG! Texting Teen Has Carpal Tunnel

Girl sent hundreds of messages per day

OMG, 2000 txts in 30 d? Crzy.

A teenager at Adlai Stevenson High School was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome because her fingers were always busy typing on her phone.

Annie Levitz, 16, says she is known as "Carpal Tunnel Girl" now among fellow students and must wear wrist braces until she heals from the condition.

Totally sux!

"Now I realize it was so pointless, but at the time they seemed necessary," Levitz said.

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when a main nerve in the arm is compressed at the wrist. It can cause tingling or numbness in the fingers or muscle weakness in the hand.

"I've broken many dishes," Annie told the Sun-Times. "Yesterday in Target, I dropped my Starbucks. It just slipped out of my hand."

:'-( Bye bye Sbux.

Annie's mother, Carrie Levitz, says that her texting teen often sends more than 2,000 texts in a month, an average of over 65 messages a day. But that was only after Annie curbed her texting.

The teen says she's learned some communication just isn't worth it.
