Nearly two weeks after Susan and Mike Kelms died in a motorcycle wreck, their four rescued dogs are still homeless.
A few people have shown interest in adopting the dogs, but not the whole pack.
Fellow rescue groups, like Homes For Huskies in Lockport, have offered to donate several bags of dog food to any family who adopts all four dogs.
And according to reports, the dogs have an unusually close bond. So much so that their owners didn't want them to be apart.
"Their last wish was that they could be adopted together and they are an interesting little pack," said Kathy Deets, manager of the Chicago Canine Club in Burr Ridge.
The four dogs are currently cared for by the Kelms' niece, Kim Mayer, and a local animal shelter.
The homeless hounds include 6-year-old Anacortes, a 47-pound female American Eskimo lab mix; 3-year-old Cedonia, a 34-pound female husky mix; 7-year-old Tacoma, a 92-pound male lab mix; and Everett, a 4-year-old, 47-pound, male Australian Shepherd lab mix.

"Their dogs were the only children they ever had,'' said Mayer in a statement on the shelter's Web site.
Helping one dog get adopted is challenging enough, but a whole pack is tough business.
"To adopt two dogs together is a huge challenge ... four could be impossible," Deets said.
The shelter's charity will run out soon, and they're looking for families to take the pack in. All the dogs are spayed and neutered and up to date with vaccines.
